Ginger Snaps

3/4 C shortening
1 C brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 C molasses
1 tsp cinnamon
2 1/4 C flour
2 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cloves
1 tsp ginger

Beat shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses well. Stir in flour, soda, salt, cloves, cinnamon, and ginger. Roll into balls the size of walnuts. Dip in sugar and place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each cookie with 2-3 drops of water. Bake at 375 for 10-12 min.
